The Area

This large glass-fronted resort has a setting on Alvor’s peaceful outskirts. It’s surrounded by manicured lawns and just a short walk from the nearest shops, bars and restaurants. The beach is a little over 20 minutes’ walk away, but the hotel lays on a handy shuttle bus several times a day that’ll whisk you to and from.

The Hotel

The swimming pools steal the show here. There’s a huge lake-sized number, fringed by loungers and thatched parasols. Little ones have a neighbouring paddling pool all to themselves, complete with an in-water play area. You’ll find one more pool inside the spa, which is all geared up for indulging body treatments, and comes with a sauna and a Turkish bath. Take some time out here to recharge while smaller guests are entertained at the hotel-run kids’ club.

When it comes to dining, this resort specialises in international buffet spreads. And there are two restaurants to choose from, so things never get samey. Three bars take care of cold drinks – there’s a stylish lobby variety, a lively sports bar with a big screen, and another right on the poolside.
